“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,”
Do you remember Christmas as a young girl? When you had that one thing you wanted so bad and you couldn’t wait to wake up and see if it was under the Christmas tree? We have all had to wait until our birthday or Christmas to receive special gifts. However, when you invite Jesus into your heart, He blesses you with special gifts everyday. Rather than physical gifts like clothes and electronics, Jesus gives us spiritual gifts. These gifts will never go out of style or stop working.
In Christ, you are blessed. Through Jesus, you will receive and have received blessings. But, what are these blessings and how does Jesus fit into the picture?
Think of a time when you received a gift that you had been really wanting. How did you feel at that moment? I bet you couldn’t believe that you had gotten such a great gift and were super thankful for the person who gave it to you.
We are all uniquely made with our own spiritual gifts. For example, you may be really good at singing or you are good at leading a group of people. These are gifts or talents from God that we can use to glorify Him.
We also receive spiritual blessings just by accepting Jesus as our Savior. When you decide to dedicate your life for Christ, you are made clean of your sins because of his death and resurrection and you receive his inheritance of eternal life in heaven. If you continue to read the book of Ephesians, you’ll learn even more about these special spiritual gifts from God. How awesome is He!
If you’ve never accepted Jesus into your heart and would like to today, I encourage you to reach out to a mentor or adult in your church. You may also pray the following on your own:
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I pray for your forgiveness to wash me clean. I believe in your death and resurrection. I want to turn away from sin and towards you. Help me trust and follow you everyday and enter my heart and life. Amen.
